[Makeup Tutorial] M.A.C. Jeanius

Labels: ,

I stashed this M.A.C. purchase one side and forgot about my purchase. Think I have too much makeup that I can't keep tabs already man. I bought this straight after my honeymoon and only got to use it a few days ago. OMG right?!

I only bought the blue eyeshadow and white pearly nail polish as below.

I love this eyeshadow pot. It's designed to look like it's taken from a portion of a pair of jeans.
The eyeshadow powder is pretty light. I had to use a pearl cream base on the eyelids to make the colour stand out and "stick on".

I even got a pair of blue contacts to match...
I used the white nail polish for base on this nail art. It's a matte pearl white nail polish, very Lady Gaga inspired.

I was so inspired by the eyeshadow pot, I decided to do a set of nail art. First I dabbled 3 types of blue nail polish for that rough jean material feel, then I used white to draw on the stripes like the thread on jeans, and finished it off with a rivet button on the thumb.

[Makeup Tutorial] Going purple

Labels: , ,

Recently I attended the Puma Social Club finale and being a huge PUMA fan I wanted to give them full support. I remember purple conquered most of the campaign colours, so I decided to dress purple and even used purple on my makeup.

I pulled out my wonderful stockings from Topshop (which I bought during CNY and havn't got the chance to wear them) & paired them with my favourite pair of PUMA shoes.

Love the crazy stripes stockings.

Actually, at first, I had a blue and purple eyeshadow look, but I thrashed it as it was looking a little like I got "blue-black" bruised. I think you will understand when you see the picture below.

An uncompleted look.
I used the M.A.C.'s Marine Ultra from Wonder Woman collection and purple glitter for the look above.
The whole colour feel didn't appeal to me, so I had to remove and redo my makeup, so here's the final look:

A light pink and dark purple glitter eyeshadow were the final colours that I chose.

Added false lashes to the outer half of my eyes for that flutter.

Got myself a pair of purple contact lenses on a last minute decision.

Voila! I feel like a big eye doll the whole night.

I used a gold creme glittery eyeshadow from CANMAKE as a base all over my eyelids. Then I carefully dabbed the glitter pink and purple from M.A.C. on. And then I used a gold shimmering eyeshadow (Bold As Gold) from M.A.C.'s eye palette around the brow bone to finish the whole eye makeup.

TIP: When applying glitter always keep the eye closed and always use a layering effect when applying, bit by bit build up the intensity, so that they don't clump up on your eyes.

A close up on my 2 favourite glitter pots.
Now everything's done, we're ready to set off.

Etude House Miss Tangerine Nail Collection

Check out what Etude House has come up with?
ORANGE is the word.
Etude House has come up with a new fresh look just in time for the summer. Bright orange makeup and nail colours, makes one all refreshed, happy and glowing all day long.

I have too much makeup, so I only picked their Miss Tangerine Petit Darling Nails Kit. I grabbed it the moment I stepped into the store and wouldn't wana put it back. It comes as a set of 3 different tones of orange.

Miss Tangerine Petit Darling Nails Kit.
From Left: Beige (Skin Tone), Light Glittery Yellow Orange, Glittery Orange.
It's alright if you don't understand Korean, simple graphics work magic.
Basically, you start using the beige nail polish as base, I used 2 layers and let it semi-dry before lightly brushing the light yellow-orange nail polish from mid nail till tip of nails. I had to do 3 layers before the colours become more obvious.

Lastly, I applied the dark orange nail polish at last 1/3 of the nail, close to the tip. I did 3 layers and the final nails look like this...

I simply fell in love with the orange nails. The look good just like that or with some bling-blings. But I kept it simple like this and it was enough for people telling me my nails look fab!

P.S. I was so inspired by the orange makeup on the Korean actress, I decided to do one for myself, using the existing makeup that I have.

I know it's nothing like the Korean star, but it's definitely something to try and it's definitely a wonderful look for work and probably win you that interview... :P

O.P.I. Haul

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Yipee! See what my hubby got me! More nail toys from O.P.I.! This is from their new "Pirates of thhe Caribbean" collection. I got the miniature set and silver shatter nail colour. In addtion, I finally found the black shatter from "Katy Perry" Collection. Woots~

So once I got home, I got my hubby to be my nail model to test the colours out. *I just had my nails done the day before, thus I can't do it on my nails*.

A closer look at the colours in packaging.
Ta Da! Check out the colours. From left: "Skulls & Glossbones" (Grey), "Planks A Lot" (Purple), "Sparrow Me The Drama" (Pink), "Stranger Tides" (Light Greyish Green).
Colours tested on nails. (Colours are true to the real thing).

The colours are light and creamy, but it's a little 'diluted', you need to apply at least 3 layers to get the full colours displayed. Another way I would suggest is to paint a layer of white nail polish before applying the colours.
The Silver Shatter works best on darker colours. Here it's displayed with a black base colour.
Reminds me of the malnutrition nails of pirates... :P

Then I tried out the Black Shatter on the light colours of the Pirates of Caribbean collection. I tested it out on the pink nail colour.

I compared and find that the Black Shatter more and they spread much further apart. Not sure is it because the Silver Shatter has glitter bits in it, it dries slower and cracks slower. And also the spaces between colours are smaller.

But each colour has its own effect on different colours. I'll definitely be playing more with the shatter colours. Stay tuned whilst I load pictures of more nail art....

[Makeup Tutorial] First Post

Labels: , , ,

I was recently out in for Sinema Move! http://huneyzworld.blogspot.com/2011/04/animation-week-part-2.html. And this was my makeup for the night.

Dark blue eyeshadow to bring out the colour of my contact lens.

Under the sun.
Drew a little white line on my under eye for a pair of bigger eyes.
Here's how I apply my eyeshadow.
The products that I used.
  1. Burmese Beauty : It’s a burgundy brown with teal green shimmer.
  2. A dark grey eyeshadow from Loreal's Open Eyes "Open Stellar" palette
  3. M.A.C's Nanogold eyeshadow
  4. Viva Glam 2  Lady Gaga Lipglass

I basically used Burmese Beauty (1) on my eyelids patting it near to the roots of eyelashes and the dark grey eyeshadow (2) to blend on the middle part of lid. Slowly pat the colours on to give the soft gradient effect. Then I used Nanogold (3) under the eyebrows for highlight, so that my eyes look more deep set. Then I finished off with Viva Glam 2 Lady Gaga Lipglass (4) on my lips.

Since my eyes are so heavy, the rest of the face should be left nude, so that focus will only be on the eyes.

Have fun with this look, see ya ~
